AN-NUR BIG MOSQUE - PEKANBARU

An-Nur Great Mosque is a mosque located in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. Construction began in 1963 and was completed in 1968. It is one of the grandest mosques in Indonesia. Seen from the side of the building, the mosque has influences from various architectural styles: Malay, Turkish, Arabic and Indian. The mosque's Nur was built in 27 Rajab 1388 AH or 20 October 1968. It was inaugurated by Arifin Ahmad, the Governor of Riau and in 2000 was renovated during the time of Governor Saleh Djasit.

The present structure is the result of refurbishment and redevelopment.

In 2000 the mosque are tripled from 4 hectares to 12.6 hectares.

The mosque was once a campus for the Faculty of Usul al-Din State Institute of Islamic studies (IAIN) Sultan Syarif Kasim Pekabaru from its founding until 1973. IAIN Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University is now the Sultan Syarif Kasim (UIN SUSKA) Pekanbaru.

Architecturally, An-Nur is similar to the Taj Mahal. The mosque was designed by IR. Roseno. The mosque can accommodate about 4,500 worshipers. The building consists of three floors. The top level is used for prayer and the lower level for offices and meeting rooms.[1]

The upper part consists of large rooms and a Hall. Calligrapher Azhari Nur from Jakarta provided writings in 1970.

Downstairs is the Secretariat of the Board and classroom space. The building is equipped with escalators connecting floors one and two.

Education services include a playgroup, kindergarten, elementary school, junior and senior high schools. Libraries and other facilities, such as meeting rooms and halls, and other class office space are available.

The Sepang International Circuit is a motorsport race track in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. It is located near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, approximately 60 km south of the capital city Kuala Lumpur. The north circuit is also raced in a clockwise direction. It is basically the first half of the main circuit. The course turns back towards the pit straight after turn 6 and is 2.71 kilometres long in total. The south circuit is the other half of the racecourse. The back straight of the main circuit becomes the pit straight when the south circuit is in use, and joins onto turn 8 of the main circuit to form a hairpin turn. Also run clockwise, this circuit is 2.61 km in length. Sepang International Circuit also features kart racing and motocross facilities.
